Door Thickness
The most common door thickness in Australia is 35mm.
Some doors may be as thick as 40mm or more.
Backset
The distance from the centre of the keyhole to the edge of the door.
The most common backset in Australia is 60mm.
Maximum Lock Stile
The distance between the edge of the door to any glass or art inlays.
Ignore this if your door panel is completely flat.
Faceplate Dimensions
The physical height & width of the lock on the door surface.
Pay attention to this if you are replacing your existing lock or want to cover an unpainted surface.
It is much easier to replace an existing lock with a new one that has a larger faceplate.

How do smart locks work?(Click)▼

Connectivity
Utilise Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or Zigbee to link the lock to your smartphone or home automation system.
Remote Access
Enable control of the lock via dedicated mobile apps or smart home platforms. Depending on the connectivity, this can be achieved remotely or within a certain proximity to the lock.
Keyless Entry
Offer convenient authentication methods such as passcodes, ID cards, fingerprints, or even facial recognition for convenient unlocking without physical keys.
Power Supply
Most smart locks are powered by alkaline batteries. They can typically last 9-12 months, depending on usage. Some locks may be powered by rechargeable lithium batteries.

Internet Dependency
Constant internet connectivity is required for advanced functions - e.g., remote unlock, remote passcode management, video monitoring (if applicable), app user group management, Google/Alexa voice control, etc.
Some smart locks connect via WiFi (2.4GHz) and some require a Zigbee or Bluetooth gateway/hub to connect to the internet.
WiFi, Zigbee, or Bluetooth?

What is the difference between WiFi smart locks and Zigbee/Bluetooth smart locks?

WiFi smart locks can be directly connected to the internet with your home wifi.
However, it usually consumes more power and results in a slightly short battery life.

On the other hand, Zigbee/Bluetooth smart locks consume less power when standing by, resulting in a longer battery life.
However, for the remote control function, these locks need a Zigbee/Bluetooth gateway/hub to connect to the home WiFi, and it is an optional item that is sold separately.

In the case when the remote control function is not needed, Bluetooth smart locks are better options.
This is because they can be paired/controlled by your smartphone directly via Bluetooth connection when the phone is within the lock’s Bluetooth signal coverage range (usually less than 10 meters).
Offline Functionality
All FORGE Smart Loc ks can operate completely offline, you won’t need the internet to register new fingerprints/PINs/ID cards.
Certain models rely on Bluetooth connectivity for their initial setup through the App.
Once configured, all basic functionalities can be used without internet access.

Push/Pull Fully Automatic Locks
These premium locks operate with motorised automatic latches and bolts. With a light touch on the fingerprint sensor, the lock automatically unlocks itself and you can simply push/pull the door open.
Locks with Handles
A traditional form of lock - the handle engages the mortise once your identity is verified. And you can open the door by rotating the handle.
Rim Locks
A traditional but versatile form of lock. Usually common on the older type of doors. It is surface mounted on the door, with the deadbolt built into the lock itself. Compared to mortise locks, rim locks can be installed with minimal adjustments needed to the internal of the door.
Frameless Glass Door Locks
Have a glass door but don’t have pre-drilled holes? No worries - our glass door lock can be friction fit to any glass door. No adjustment on the glass is needed at all.
Door Knobs
Replaces your traditional door knobs. Commonly used for internal doors.
Outdoor Garden Gate Locks
These locks can be either single-sided or double-sided. Meaning even if you have a grill garden gate, the double-sided lock can only be unlocked with your fingerprint both from the outside, and the inside. This greatly enhances the security of your gate while maintaining maximum convenience. These locks are also engineered with weather-proof structures so they can last years under rain and shine.
Screen Door/Aluminum Frame Glass Door Locks
These locks are purposely engineered to be very slim and narrow to fit the very narrow aluminum door frames. They also come with different mortise options for different frame sizes and are available for both sliding doors and swing doors.
Lock Key Boxes
These locks are secured boxes that can be placed anywhere and prevent unwanted access to important items, such as your spare key. Our key box also comes with a removable shackle. You can wall mount it like a normal key box or lock it anywhere. This lock is also 100% outdoor weather-proof for additional versatility.
